Minneriya Wildlife Sanctuary

Minneriya Wildlife Sanctuary was declared designated in 1938. Nearby you can see Minneriya Tank which is very important historical celebrate and the main reason for creating a sanctuary there. The park contained a special bird area. It is a major elephant gathering in the country. According to some reliable sources there are 700 elephants gathered at a time. It is the abode for some endemic species of flora & fauna.
